To participate in Merced Art Hop you need to meet the following criteria?
You must be a Merced County Resident.
You have to be registered on Merced Art Hop website, if you are an artist’s your artwork has to be uploaded on the website.
No vendors, tables outside, passing flyers and soliciting during the Art Hop.
Your Business must be located within our geographic boundaries.
Main St, no farther than O St and I St.
M St, no farther than 16th St and 18th St.
Canal St, no farther than 16th St and 19th St.
K St, no farther than 16th and 18th St.
MLK St, no farther than 16th St and 18th St.
Registration deadline is 30 days before the Art Hop
How to Register
- Click on “Sign-up Now”
- Type a user name (no space between words)
- Type a password
- Choose (Artist, Performer, Merchant or Volunteer)
- Type your Information.
- If you are an Artist or Business make sure you fill out the information completely.
How to choose an Artist
- Click on “Artists”.
- Look at the artist’s profile, choose the artist you like.
- Check to see if artist’s is available (winter, spring, summer, fall, 20–).
- Click on (winter, spring, summer, fall 20–) to invite.
- Artist will receive an invite on their profile.
- If you are an artist regularly check your profile to see if you have an invite from a business.
ARTISTS AND PERFORMERS
Any artist or performer can participate in the Art Hop. Whether you’re a seasoned exhibitor or if you’ve never shown your work to anyone before, there’s a place for you! It’s easy to get involved. Just follow these guidelines and you’ll be all set. Create a login, build a profile upload your pictures. Businesses will be able to see you are available, after the match is made, all arrangements are made between the artist and the business. When and how you deliver and exhibit your work is up to you and the business owner. In preparation for and during the Art Hop, artists are to be professional and courteous
Art Hop Theme! (required)
In order for the Art Hop to stay fresh, we need to shake it up, without making it lame. We are strongly encouraging each artist needs to bring a NEW piece of artwork in some way which relates to “the theme”. Imagine how cool it will be to see each artist’s own interpretation of the theme, and talk to one another to learn more about each other.
Downtown businesses are crazy not to take advantage of Merced’s Art Hop! We will attract hundreds of visitors to downtown and actively encourage each of them to check out every participating storefront. All you have to do is open your doors, host an artist, and welcome people in. Here’s how it works. Register online so you are listed on the walking tour map. Click the Artists link at the top of the page. Review the artist, if you find one you like, request them to be you artist. (If you already know an artist that you want to spotlight, great! Just have them register online, then choose them as your artist.) Once you’ve selected your artist, it’s up to you and the artist to decide when and how the art will be displayed. Some artists are new to the exhibition scene and may need your expertise to help them show their work in its best light. Spread the word! Promote the Art Hop like it’s a new product or service that you provide (because it is!). Give each of your customers an Art Hop flyer and personally invite them to come downtown for the Art Hop. If you have an email list, use it! On Art Hop night, welcome people to your store with free refreshments, special discounts or other incentives and promotions.
Volunteers are responsible for making signs, passing out flyers, recruiting artists, musicians and volunteers, calling artists, setting up installations, children’s activities, watching the crowd or directing people, helping businesses, etc. We need volunteers before and after the event for different tasks.
